Descrizione

The research group arose within the European project 'Research into representations of intercultural contacts in Czech travelogue texts from the Mediterranean up to 1918, using digital humanities' (acronym: DIGEOCAT & Lib.), funded by EU programme “Cooperation partnership in higher education Erasmus+” (2022-1-CZ01-KA220-HED-000085765) for the years 2022-2025.

Coordinated by Palacký University in Olomouc and implemented in cooperation with the Moravian Library in Brno, the Universities Sveučilište u Zagrebu, Universidad de Granada and the Department of Languages and Literature, Communication, Education and Society of the University of Udine, the project is dedicated to the representations of intercultural contacts in Czech travelogue texts from the Mediterranean up to 1918, using digital humanities.

The main objective of the project is to create an innovative digital humanities tool, specifically a digital library of travelogue texts accessible online, which will be interactively connected with a digital multi-thematic atlas via themes focusing on intercultural contact.

Within the Udine research group, represented by prof. Anna Maria Perissutti (coordinator), prof. Francesco Visentin (member) and by two external members, Gaia Smeinara and Elisa Bin, the following activities are realized:

-analysis and tagging of travelogue texts written in XIX century by Czech travellers directed to Italy;
-publication of scientific studies;
-organisation of an international conference (3-4 October 2024) "The Mediterranean in travelogue literature".
